Even If The Sky Falls by Mia Garcia
Publication Date: 10th May 2016
Blurb from Goodreads: All she needs is one night to be anyone she wants.
Julie is desperate for a change. So she heads to New Orleans with her youth group to rebuild houses and pretend her life isn’t a total mess. But between her super-clingy team leader and her way-too-chipper companions, Julie feels more trapped than ever.
In a moment of daring, she ditches her work clothes for DIY fairy wings and heads straight into the heart of Mid-Summer Mardi Gras, where she locks eyes with Miles, an utterly irresistible guy with a complicated story of his own. And for once, Julie isn’t looking back. She jumps at the chance to see the real New Orleans, and in one surreal night, they dance under the stars, share their most shameful secrets, and fall in love.
But their adventure takes an unexpected turn when an oncoming hurricane changes course. As the storm gains power and Julie is pulled back into chaos she finds pretending everything is fine is no longer an option.
Cover Page: The cover page is enchanting. I was squealing so much when I had this book in my hand and showing everyone,”Look!Look at this beautiful cover page!”
Plot: While I can’t say it was an extraordinary one but it was pretty good. Though at some places it was predictable but there were also some situations total droll worthy. As per romance it was great.
- I know he has more to say-he always does-each breath he takes is in expectation of something, and I can’t shake the feeling that the something is me.
- The revelers continue on, some look up, wave, and beckon us down, while others toss strands of beads up to us. My legs itch to join in. I shift, restless now. What was once a dense and far too crowded thoroughfare has thinned out enough to slip into the madness. I straighten, decision made, and stand.
- A young girl hurt. A young man in pain.
- You are nothing, storm. Try as you might, you are nothing.
Overall: You know I get this song in my head every time I was reading, ‘At the beginning’ from Anastasia. Don’t know why but yeah it did. The book is super cute with some dramatic facts. I liked how author wrote a chapter present then a past one, though it was confusing at first as nothing was stated-it was totally up to you.
The ending was a little overwhelming. I quite didn’t understand that. It was of course a happy ending, just needed a more of an execution? Maybe or definitely.
Author really researched so much on New Orleans. How she incorporated its myths and legends in every step of MCs journey. I didn’t knew much of New Orleans but now, thanks to author.
This is a great book for a debut one. Read it to know how it feels to escape for a while. 🙂
Here is a little musical treat for everyone!
