Novel Synopsis:  Heartbreak and redemption in the beauty of a Ukrainian village

For seven-year old Angela, happiness is exploring the lush countryside around

her home in western Ukraine. Her wild imagination takes her into birds and

flowers, and into the waters of the river.
All that changes when, one morning,

she sees her mother crying. As she tries to find out why, she is drawn on an

extraordinary journey into the secrets of her family, and her mother’s fateful

choices.

Can Angela lead her mother back to happiness before her innocence is

destroyed by the shadows of a dark past?

Beautiful, poetic and richly sensory, this is a tale that will haunt and lift its

readers.

A word from Author:~

Hello book lovers and thank you for having me on your blog! I’m happy to be in

any place there are readers and writers.

I’d like to write a few words today about the place where my novel is set –

western Ukraine.

Ukraine is a huge country of 50 million people in Europe, with 7 countries

surrounding it – Poland, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, Hungary, Belarus and

Russia.

I lived in the capital – Kyiv – for 10 years, and spent a lot of time exploring the

different cities and villages and countryside and learning the languages, and

about the culture. During this time, I completely fell in love with the country and to

this day it has a huge place in my heart.

I decided to set my debut novel in a village in western Ukraine – which is near

the border with Poland. This is my favourite part of the country, and I think, the

most beautiful. The villages there look like you have walked into a fairytale and

people still have many animals – there are always geese in the road and goats

tied up to fences and every home has a dog, and probably chickens and a

rooster. The villages can be noisy places!

The springtime in Ukraine is especially amazing because it comes after months

and months of heavy snow and hard winter. Suddenly, everything is wild and

green and growing before your eyes. It’s a dramatic change after the white and

grey your eyes have got used to.

I hope that some of my readers might be inspired to find out more about this

amazing country and even to visit it! In the meantime, I have tried to paint a

picture of what it is like in my novel.

Thank you for reading!
