What is a Beta Reader?

~Beta reader, also pre-reader or critiquer, is a non-professional reader who reads a written work, generally fiction, with the intent of looking over the material to find and improve elements such as grammar and spelling, as well as suggestions to improve the story, its characters, or its setting. Beta reading is typically done before the story is released for public consumption. Elements highlighted by beta readers encompass things such as plot holes, problems with continuity, characterisation or believability; in fiction and non-fiction, the beta might also assist the author with fact-checking.

Why hire me?

I will:~

~ Read your story as a reader, not as an editor.

~ Offer feedback on character development, dialogues, pacing, etc.

~ Will provide new ideas to polish the manuscript.

~ Will complete my work in the given time frame.

I will NOT:~

~ I will not proofread or edit your book. Minor grammatical errors will be corrected.

Format:~

~ I don’t have any preference though I would suggest MS Word format  as it would be cheap for author and me as well.

Book Preference:~

~ I will not accept any of the following genre:-

  • Political
  • Military
  • Fanfiction

Sorry, but it would be futile if my interest is not there.

Rates:~

~Simply, email me with your word count and I’ll let you know my pricing.  

-Rates will increase as per the word count. I expect half of the payment to be done before I begin work and half after I complete it. Rates will increase for rush requests. 

-Rates are on a per draft basis. If author sends the same story again for reading of the new draft, another fee will be charged. (This totally depends on me. I may or may not charge.)

My usual time frame: two weeks at least.

    I just received a review of an early work of mine here. I found myself pleased with the timeliness of the response. The reviewer suggested many improvements to the manuscript that I am still processing. I The reviewer claims to be brutal in their feedback. I did not find this to be true. Instead I found the comments instructive and helpful. I look forward to using this service again soon. Thank you for your feedback.

    Divya did an awesome job in beta reading my contemporary romance MS. She provided me with valuable comments on the storyline, characters, pacing, descriptions. She also offered several suggestions for improvements which I feel sure would highly benefit my MS. Her response time is agreed and punctual. She says her feedback is brutal but i didnt find this to be the case. In fact she was honest in what she liked and what she thought would work better which I appreciated.     Divya did a great job reviewing ( beta reading ) my new chick lit book. I found the comments valuable and constructive. She was fast in making the work done. And she was honest in her remarks which I appreciate even if maybe I don’t agree with some. But that is a point of beta reading to hear others opinion.     I found Divya on the Goodreads forums for beta reading. Honestly, I once had a classmate in middle school named Divya, so I thought Why not? Divya read my 134k manuscript of Snow Black in two weeks. At the end, she told me what she liked and didn’t like. Then she filled out my feedback survey.
    I’ve had readers who read the same novel and stopped halfway because the themes were too dark. Others left angry comments at my main character for being too much of an anti-hero. Divya persevered and was very professional. Then she offered to help me promote my book. Aww…
    For those with polished manuscripts, I recommend Divya to lend you another pair of eyes. Divya is a trustworthy beta reader who can offer you valuable feedback through her critical lenses. And her turnaround is pretty efficient too.

    One of the best beta read services I have ever experienced. Divya’s comments are very much to the point and honest.
    The best part is she is very quick. Unlike many other beta readers, her clients need not to wait for months for the feedback.
